Metabolism is the process by which your body converts food into energy and refers to the speed at which you burn calories.

If you eat more calories than you burn off throughout the day the result will be that the calories are stored as fat.

Approximately 3,500 calories equals one pound of body fat. So, the general rule is that by reducing calorie intake or burning calories with exercise at 500 calories a day, one pound a week of body fat will be lost.

Recommended daily calorie intake can vary for different individuals depending on age, height, weight and metabolism.

A good estimate is to allow for around 15 calories per pound of body weight.

For example, a person who weighs 160 pounds may consume around 2,400 calories each day to maintain his or her weight (15 calories/pound x 160 pounds = 2,400 calories).

For long term weight loss, aim to lose one to two pounds a week.

A diet high in fibre can help to fill you without adding too many calories.

Eat slowly - it takes 20 minutes for the brain to start signalling feelings of fullness so the slower you eat, the fewer calories you consume.

Crash dieting can have a detrimental effect on your basic metabolic rate, your body will go into 'starvation mode' to protect its fat stores by using up muscle tissue.

Most dieters do not keep up the starvation routine for long. They return to their old eating habits and the weight eventually piles back on. Because they lost both fat and muscle during the diet, they now have a lot more fat and a lot less muscle than they did before the diet. The amount of calorie intake needed to maintain a loss in weight will have lessened because their metabolism has slowed down.

For any weight loss plan to work, it should include a well-balanced diet - a reduction of calorie intake - any type of physical activity to burn calories and some modification to existing lifestyles.

For more weight loss tips, please read my article at Ezine Articles.

Diet and Exercise ebooks are available at http://www.jolo1.com

Which Hair Style Suits You? - Short, Long, Spiky, Sleek, The Bob, Straight, Curly?

Hair styles are like stars in the sky; no one knows exactly how many there are! It may sound funny, but it’s actually pretty true. There seems to be a hair style for every type, texture, and color of hair, for every occasion and for every personality including who opt for letting a professional work his/her magic and those who prefer to experiment in their own bathrooms. It’s amazing what can be done with hair. It is so versatile to work with and anything that is done to your hair in terms of styling can be undone and even if it may take a few months the significance here is that it is not permanent, which is probably the reason that people experiment so much. So what have some of these experiments yielded over the years? Incalculable different types of hair styles! And here are just a few of the many, many types.

For starters, going short is a hairstyle in itself, and if you wish to get a short hairstyle, you have a vast range of types of short hair styles to choose from. The Bob is probably the most sought after short hair style simply because it is both trendy and easy to manage. But the bob cut can be altered in a variety of ways to make it a completely new type of bob hairstyle. There are all-in-one length bobs, inverted bobs, layered bobs and bobs with long, short sweeping, fringed or choppy bangs among others. Color and highlights are also used to give bobs of any type depth and difference.

Apart from the bob hairstyle, which is fairly long compared to other types of short cuts, the variety of styles is just as vast. For those wanting to go really short, you have the option of choosing the ‘short and sleek’ style which is great for dead-straight, full hair, there is also the ‘short cropped’ and ‘short and spiky’ styles that are edgy and fresh and the ‘pixie cuts’ that are cute but sexy. Again, color and highlighting can make the difference between an ordinary short hairstyle and an extraordinary short hairstyle!

Like short hairstyles, long hairstyles come in an equally vast range of different types and variations. Long hair in general, is a style, but it does not work for everyone, especially those with fine or thin hair as the weight that comes with the length will make hair look stringy and even more flat. But for those who find that long hair works, there are numerous things you can do to add more life or appeal to your hair. Going curly, or straightening curly hair are great ways to change up your look for different occasions. Changing your hair color or adding highlights, are also great ways to change your look on a more seasonal level, for instance many people opt for highlight during summer.

But when it comes down to the actual cut of your long hair, that should be determined on various factors the major of which is the shape of your face. The shape of your face will lead you to choosing a haircut that will suit you best. Short bangs, or sweeping bangs, parting hair in different ways are also great ways to enhance a hair cut. Also it is a good idea to start collecting hair accessories to keep your long hair looking stylish, but tidy and out of the way when it's down. Headbands, lace, ribbon, barrettes, jeweled or beaded clips and pins are the daily staples of long hair devotees.

The vast and varied types of hairstyles can be easily seen on everyone walking around, but remember that everyone has different qualities, features, bone structures and personalities so what’s good for someone else may not necessarily be good for you. But the good news is that if you see a type of hairstyle style or cut that is appealing to you, you should get some professional advice on how it will look on you, and if you find that the particular style or cut will not do you justice you and your hairdresser can come up with a variation of the style that you like and that will look great on you, and this is the benefit of having so many styles, types and cuts to choose from when it comes to your hair.

by Sarah H

Discover more interesting tidbits on hair by visiting http://www.theworldofhair.net/ a website offering tips and resources on issues such as trendy hairstyles, causes of hair loss and even about hot wax hair removal techniques.

Article Source: http://www.articlesnatch.com

See Jolo's Ebooks Beauty Section for free advice on hair, makeup, skin, eyes

The Many Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea, which originates in China but is now consumed throughout the world, is made with pure leaves, and is the least processed of all tea types..

The plant species whose leaves are used to produce the famous green tea is called Camellia Sinensis.

EGCG, the most abundant of all the tea catechins, is just one of a variety of compounds and amino acids that are stored within the leaf itself. A powerful antioxidant, it is thought to assist the body in warding off the effects of premature ageing, maintaining the chemistry of the body, inhibiting certain bacteria that can cause food poisoning, alleviating certain allergies, balancing out cholesterol levels and promoting healthy teeth and gums.

Anti-Ageing

One of the most talked about property of green tea is its apparent ability to slow down the ageing process. Recent research shows that green tea extract is naturally rich in antioxidants, which help protect the body from free radicals - naturally occurring particles in the body associated with accelerated ageing and an increased risk of major diseases. Exposure to pollution, smoking and excess sunlight increases the number of free radicals in the blood, but the potent antioxidants found in green tea add strong weight to the belief that green tea not only promotes good health but also makes you look younger.

Weight Loss

Green tea has recently become a firm favourite with many dieters as it is believed to increase the body's metabolic rate and fat burning ability. Green tea also appears to stimulate all internal organs and at the same time enhance the immune system encouraging it to work at optimum level. Known as thermogenesis, this boost to the metabolism is triggered after kick starting areas of dormant fat burning tissue. It is these benefits that we now see green tea gaining popularity as the ideal drink to have whilst dieting.

Health Benefits

For over 4,000 years Chinese Medicine has recommended the Camellia Sinensis plant as a preventative to headaches, body aches, pains, depression and to generally assist in detoxifying, energising and prolonging good health long into old age.

There are also several green tea research studies linking green tea to cancer prevention.

In addition to this wonderful benefit, green tea is also thought to promote an increase in metabolism that helps lower cholesterol in the body.

Further studies on catechins have shown they are also effective at reducing reactions to certain allergens. When the body is subjected to an allergen it triggers a natural defence mechanism by releasing histamine into the bloodstream. It is this histamine release that causes the various allergic reactions we commonly see in hayfever, asthma and eczema. Catechins are reputed to inhibit the release of histamine into the blood, therefore reducing the symptoms for those sufferers

Other studies based on the fluoride content of green tea have noted its ability to promote good dental health. Fluoride, which is naturally found in tea, is known to strengthen the teeth by reinforcing the enamel and therefore help retard the onset of cavities. Not only that, but the catechins present are thought to suppress plaque formation and also create an unhealthy environment for the bacteria that cause periodontal disease.

Although studies on green tea are still very much in progress, the many benefits green tea has to offer is still recognised by the Chinese to this day. It is only now that we in the western world are catching on, and before long we will not only regard green tea as a refreshing drink, but also fully understand how this remarkable leaf can assist the body in all manner of ways.

Jo at jolo's ebooks

Which Styling Products are Right for My Hair?

Knowing which styling products to use for a particular hair type can make a big difference in how hair looks and feels. Each person is different, and that means that their hair is also different. If a person can get a product that works well on their hair type they should stick with that product or some version thereof. In other words, if you cannot afford the most expensive hair product that you need, try getting a less expensive version of the same thing. Brand names are important, but there are also some less expensive brands that work very well for someone on a budget who still wants to take care of his or her hair. This is important to remember. It is better to buy the less expensive brand of the product that you really need than it is to buy a different type of product entirely. Just because mousse worked well on your hair does not mean that gel will. Just because your friend likes her leave-in conditioner does not mean that it is the right product for you. Taking the time to find out what you need can go a long way toward your hair care.

The texture of the hair that a person has makes a difference in what kind of styling products that person should use. If you have hair that is very fine and flies away easily, you will want to use different products than someone who has very thick, heavy hair. The same is true of someone with curly hair versus someone with straight hair. No matter what your needs are, though, there are options for you when it comes to styling products. There are also good products that you can afford, no matter what your budget is. Even people on fixed incomes can find items that are very inexpensive and that still work well for them. Individuals do not have to go broke to style their hair the way that they want to. In the past there were fewer options for women, and many years ago they washed their hair very infrequently and then forced it to stay in place with whatever would hold it. Now, of course, most people wash their hair once a week or more. A lot of them wash it once a day.

Styling products can include mousses and gels, but there are also hair sprays and many other items. Not everyone is sure what all of these products do. Some of these same individuals are also not sure which products they might need. Asking a hair stylist is a good way to get some answers. In addition, there are people who sell quality hair care products. These people can also help provide information that will help you make a choice as to what styling product you want to use. By asking around, reading labels, and paying attention to sales, you can get the styling products that you need at a price you can afford. This will help your hair improve if it is damaged and keep it strong and healthy if it is already in good condition.

Elizabeth Roth owns a hair care products site that offers free beauty tips. Protein rich foods can be found in fish, lean meats, eggs and dairy foods and cereals.

Minerals are important for healthy hair.

Iron carries oxygen to the hair. Insufficient iron will starve the hair follicles of oxygen. Include red meat and dark green vegetable in your diet.

Zinc prevents hair loss. Meat and seafood have a high content of zinc.

Copper is needed for hair structure and is involved in the pigmentation of hair. Fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, meat and liver are high in copper.

Ensure your diet has all the necessary vitamins that help in the growth of healthy hair.

Vitamin A keeps your scalp healthy and is good for your skin also. It is found in carrots, sweet potatos, broccoli, cantaloupe and apricots. Lack of B vitamins can lead to oily hair conditions, sources are: green vegetables, beans, sunflower seeds, nuts and peas.

Vitamin C strengthens the immune system and assists in metabolizing B vitamins and amino acids into the body. Lack of vitamin C can cause dry hair. Excellent sources of Vitamin C are found in citrus fruits, berries, green vegetables and tomatoes.

Vitamin E provides lots of benefits for growing vibrant hair. Sources are avocado, rice bran, nuts, dark green vegetables and whole grains.

Healthy hair also needs two essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6, that are not produced naturally by the human body.

Omega-3 fats sources: flax oil, algae, cold-water fish, dark-green vegetables, hemp oil and pumpkin seed oil

Omega-6 fats sources: borage, evening primrose oil, safflower oil, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, corn and pumpkin seeds.

Everything about hair - hairstyles to suit you, hair extensions, Up-dos, hair straightening, curls etc. All this information and much more is available in my new ebook. You should also consider whether a particular hairstyle will suit your face shape.

Fine Hair - There are various ways in which you can add body and volume to fine hair. These include correct cutting and shaping techniques, chemical wave or root lift applications. Choose styles with minimum graduation such as bob cuts and wedges. Layers will create an illusion of thickness. Keep hair short to shoulder length.

Coarse Hair - To help disguise an overall heavy look, cut is very important. Look for hairstyles that lessen the bulk and weight that coarse hair produces. Layer cuts or razor cuts will thin out the thickness of your hair, and in the process, give a sleeker finish.

Straight Hair - Simple, geometric haircuts like bobs are perfect for straight hair of any texture. If you prefer your hair long, tapered layers along the face will soften hard lines. For extra volume, add layers from the last three inches to the ends.

Curly Hair - Possibly the most versatile of all. You can use straightening products or let it go soft and curly on its own. Layered hair cuts reduce bulk and the curls are easier to maintain. If you wear your hair long, the curls tend to be slightly looser with the weight of your hair. Razor-cuts are not advised for hair that tends to be frizzy.

Your best cut is determined by your face, so strive for a hairstyle that works with your particular face shape. Using this strategy will help create a balance that can change the appearance of a face shape and also emphasize your best features.

Here are some guidelines:

Square Face - Choose a hairstyle that will create softness and detract from a square jaw line such as long layers with soft waves, curls or choppy ends. You can also get away with short, spiky cuts and long, sleek styles with layers that start at the jawline and continue downward. A centre parting or chin length bobs and square bangs (fringes) on the forehead will accentuate a square face, so avoid those geometric lines.

Round Face - Try cuts that fall just below the chin. Soft, graduated layers are ideal because they make your face appear slimmer and remove volume from the sides. Consider wispy and tapered ends. These de-emphasize the roundness of your face. Add some height to the top of the head to make your face look longer.

Long Face - Choose a style with layers or go for a chin length bob with a fringe which will create horizontal lines. Scrunch dried or curly bobs balance a long face. Brow-skimming bangs are also ideal because they create the illusion of width. Avoid short cuts or styles that add height on top.

Heart shaped Face - Opt for long sideswept bangs and a length that frames the jaw line. Keep top layers soft and long. Avoid short, blunt-cut bangs and harsh, choppy layers.

Oval Face - With this face shape, you have the advantage of being able to pull off any look. However, much depends on the quality of hair; thin, wavy, straight etc. Avoid short layers that add height on top of your head. This will make your face appear long. If your hair is thick or curly, avoid a blunt cut.

More Free Beauty Tips at Jolo's Ebooks http://www.jolo1.com

See my Recently Finished Ebook on sale at http://www.jolo1.com/sheer_beauty.html

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jo_Rushworth

Get Those Smoky Eyes - How to Achieve the Smokey Eye Look

As well as selling ebooks on my website, I also have a free online beauty section and enjoy writing articles on the subject. Here is one I have recently had published on Ezine Articles.

The best way to achieve a sultry and smouldering smoky eye look is to make sure colours are blended together perfectly. Use a deep colour to add definition to your socket and a lighter colour, preferably cream or skin-tone for your base. Get those smoky eyes that can bring men to their knees, if done correctly. Read on for the best tips on how to achieve the ultimate smoky eye look.

As an alternative to the traditional dark brown or black, try deep purple, plum, dark blue, dark green or copper to soften the look and enhance your eye colour.

The first step is to prepare your lid. Dab on an eyeshadow primer as this will keep your eyelids oil free and prevent the eyeshadow melting into your eyelid crease.

Take the lighter base eyeshadow and sweep over your lids from your lash line to your browbone. Be quite generous with this as it will make it easier to add the darker colour.

Once the base has been applied, you are ready for the eyeliner.

Using black, charcoal or a dark colour eye pencil that complements your eyeshadow, draw a line above the upper lash line making the line thicker in the middle, then blend in gently to soften the edge of the line.

Use a liner brush and go over the liner with your darker eyeshadow, stretching across the lid just short of where your eyeliner ends. Soften, blend and smudge to eliminate harsh lines.

Now, gradually blend in a little of the darker colour into the lighter base, Starting from your lash line, brush upwards to just below the crease. For best results, build it up slowly rather than adding too much dark at once..

For the lower lash line you will need to use a lighter eyeliner. Apply a small amount of shadow to get the smudge effect.

Finish with two coats of volumizing mascara. Get the wand as close to the roots as possible, then gently blink as you draw it through your lashes. Use an eyelash curler for more dramatic results.

Remember to keep your lips neutral to give smoky eyes their real impact.

More Free Beauty Tips at http://www.jolo1.com/beauty.html

Take a tour around Jolo's Ebooks at http://www.jolo1.com to view a great selection of ebooks devoted to a variety of topics.

Also visit my other website at www.jayandel.co.uk for even more free beauty tips

Make Those Resell Rights Ebooks Work For You

Have you downloaded and stored numerous resell rights ebooks over the years and your hard disk is full of useless files? Think again, maybe they're not such a waste of space after all. You can start by putting those resell rights to work for you.

EBay is a good place to start. You will need to set up a decent sales page with a good and accurate description. A lot of ebooks come with ready made sales pages, in that case you can just copy and paste the html code into the eBay sales page. The title is very important. It needs to be brief but descriptive and packed with relevant keywords.

Setting up an ebook store is not as hard as you might think, it really is just a matter of choosing a niche and selling them. Obviously there's a bit more to it than that but with a bit of research and perseverance those resell rights ebooks can make you a tidy profit.

Get some graphics, again your ebooks may include these, if not there are software packages to help you to create ebook covers. Do a search on Google.

Offering free ebooks is a good way of enticing people on to your website.

Resell Rights products are one of the largest growing online industries today, so put your ebooks to good use and get in on the action.

Jolo's Ebooks

Selling Products Online

If you plan on selling products online, one of the main things is to create a search engine friendly website so people can find your site.
After all said and done, low traffic means few or no sales.

Getting your website ranked in the top search engines will be crucial to your success.

But, search engine optimization and high rankings are not enough on their own to keep visitors on your site or even buy any of your products.

An attractive, well-organized website is a necessity. It must also be easy to navigate so site visitors can find their way around smoothly and shop for your products or services.

Text - If the background behind your text is white or light in colour, ensure that your text is dark – preferably black. White text shows up better on a dark background. Try to use sans-serif fonts like Arial or Verdana and do not make the text too small as it can be difficult to read. Let’s look at the top 7 ways to attract Google to your site:

Posting in authority forums – Forums often have a high Page Rank, which is crucial for ranking well in the search engines. Be sure to include your website’s link in your signature. Don’t spam the forums as you’ll get kicked out quickly. Post useful content so forum posters will reply to your topic, keeping your topic high up on the page.

Create a blog – Blog sites like Wordpress and Blogger are regarded as authority sites by Google. By creating backlinks in a blog, you can get indexed by Google pretty quickly. You can also post relevant comments on other blogs and recommend your site in the process.

Use social bookmarking/networking sites – Again, make use of authority sites to increase your site’s Page Rank. Post useful content at your MySpace blog and include a backlink to your website. Sites like Digg.com are also great for getting quick, quality backlinks for fast indexing.

Squidoo – Squidoo is a blogging platform on steroids. In recent times, Squidoo sites are getting great listings on the search engines. It’s a little harder to set up a Squidoo site than it is to set up a blog, but the effort will pay off in spades.

Write articles – Articles are ‘viral traffic generators’ because they are often syndicated by content publishers when they are posted up at article directories. Use them to build useful backlinks. The more articles you write, the more backlinks you get.

Fabian Tan is the author of the free 51-Page Report:

"Murder Your Job: How To Build Cash Sucking Autopilot Businesses In 30 Days Or Less!"

Head over to http://www.MurderYourJob.com to get your free copy now before it’s gone!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Fabian_Tan http://EzineArticles.com/?Top-5-Ways-To-Get-Your-Site-Listed-In-Google---Fast&id=757941

www.jolo1.com

Teaching Your Child Good Manners From An Early Age

Teaching Your Child Good Manners From An Early Age
By Ellie Dixon

Children need to learn how to stand up for their rights, but at the same time learn to consider and respect the feelings and rights of others too - in other words, they need to learn good manners. It is possible to teach children good manners without subjecting them to the repression of previous decades - who can remember being told "children should be seen, but not heard?" Start your toddler on the road to good manners now with the following tips:

Lay the foundations

Good manners aren't just about knowing when to say please and thank you and which cutlery to use with each course. The underlying principle of good manners is consideration towards others. In other words, saying "please" and "thank you" should mean that you care, not that you've simply been taught to use these words. So, to raise a well-mannered child you need to teach the "why" of etiquette along with the "how". What you're actually trying to do is teach manners that come from within - you're trying to raise a caring, respectful child.

Set a good example

The best way to teach your child good manners is to use them yourself. So don't forget to say "please" and "thank you" when it's appropriate, "excuse me" when you bump into someone, chew with your mouth closed and ask for the salt to be passed to you rather than reaching across someone to grab it. But most importantly, don't forget to extend your good manners to your toddler. Say "please" when you ask him to do something, and "thank you" when he does something for you. Apologise if you accidentally knock over his brick tower and you'll be teaching him consideration, respect and care for other people's feelings.

Speak for your toddler

At first your child won't realise that good manners involve saying "thank you for having me" at the end of a play date - so it's up to you to say it for them. They'll hear you using appropriate responses in social situations and your example will teach your child much more about courtesy that any amount of prodding or nagging. If you're always saying "Now, what do you say?" to your child, they'll find this annoying and possibly humiliating and may become even more reluctant to make the right response. It doesn't hurt to remind them occasionally, but it's best to wait for a private moment.

Don't pressurise your child

Nagging about displaying good manners, or punishing your child for not using "please" and "thank you" will teach them the right responses, but won't instil a positive feeling about good manners. This means that your child will be much less likely to behave courteously when you're not there to enforce the rules.

Be consistent

Pressurising your child isn't appropriate, but reminding about good manners is. When you're alone together and your toddler forgets to say please, ask "What's the magic word?" If you get the right response, that's great. If not, fill in the blank space for your child. At least you'll have made it clear that you think good manners are important.

Listen to your toddler

Children who are listened to make better listeners themselves. Being a good listener is an important part of being a polite and considerate individual.

Above all, have realistic expectations. From remembering to say "thank you" to being willing to share a favourite toy, it will take many years of teaching and reminding before your child displays good manners automatically. But do persevere, and one day you'll be very pleased when someone remarks, "My, your child has such good manners!"

Visit Ellie's website, Scruffy's Bookshop to view a new online toolkit called Kids of Character

It's designed to help you raise responsible, caring kids in a fun way. Sign up for her free monthly newsletter while you're there!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ellie_Dixon
http://EzineArticles.com/?Teaching-Your-Child-Good-Manners-From-An-Early-Age&id=814331

Visit Home and Family at Jolo's Ebooks for more parenting advice

Guess Who Will Buy Ebooks Online

Guess Who Will Buy Ebooks Online?
By Dr.Mani Sivasubramanian

A vast, global, growing marketplace has opened up with the explosive growth of the Internet. And this hungry market is full of people who buy stuff... especially information products. Ebooks are the most frequently sold form of information product.

Who will buy ebooks online? Just about anyone who has a computer and Internet access is a prospect who may buy ebooks online. The frequency, budget and topic area of such purchases may vary, but ebook sales are exploding with the advent of new technology and the entry of new consumers into the market.

There are a few specific categories of people who buy ebooks online that you as an infopreneur need to address specifically, and personalize your marketing communications for.

Students Buy Ebooks Online

Students in college, post-graduate courses or even those studying specific vocational courses buy ebooks. Surprising enough, even students of other topics like guitar playing, chess, golfing and swimming buy ebooks - to teach them how to play, learn or work more efficiently.

Retirees Buy Ebooks Online

They are doing it in increasing numbers. And the good news is that they have higher disposable incomes, and very specific needs not relevant to a broader market. By creating a line of infoproducts targeted at retirees, an infopreneur can make a fortune just from this market niche.

Business Owners Buy Ebooks Online

They often buy frequently and at a higher price than recreational readers. As long as the ebook teaches a way to enhance business, grow profits or avoid loss, there will be a market for it among business owners.

Professionals Buy Ebooks Online

The nature of ebooks professionals buy is more specialized, and relevant to their area of expertise. When writing for hobbyists, think about doing a series of ebooks that you can sell to them over a period, rather than a more expensive single course or report.

Service Providers Buy Ebooks Online

The kind of information they are interested in helps them grow their own business or attract new clients.

Infopreneurs Buy Ebooks Online

If you are not doing it already, start today. The strongest competitive advantage you have over everyone else is the knowledge and systems you possess. And to create systems you need to keep learning about newer developments, keep abreast of the latest advances and be in constant 'education mode'.

Buy ebooks online to get the newest, most up-to-date information. Attend seminars, coaching programs, get mentoring and do everything you can to learn enough to stay well ahead of the crowd. Low Carb Diets Menus
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Londrie]Keith Londrie

You have been on that low carb diet for a while and now you simply do not know what else you can eat. You are fed up with the same foods you have been eating since you started and now every breakfast, lunch or dinner are more than a quest.

Many people face the same difficulty in choosing their menu while they are on a low carb diet. The reason behind this is that they are unsure which foods are allowed and which – not.

Low carbohydrate diets in fact are very generous. You can eat almost everything unless it contains a lot of carbohydrates.

Vegetables: during a low carb diet only low carb vegetables are allowed. You will be amazed how many vegetables you can eat. You can consume all kind of greens such as lettuce, spinach, chard; beans, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, mushrooms, cucumbers, all kinds of peppers, onions and all kinds of herbs. The main vegetables that are not allowed because they have high carb levels are corn, potatoes, peas, beets and carrots.

Fruits: fruit consumption during a low carb diet can be a bit tricky as most of the fruits contain a lot of glucose. However you can eat all kind of berries (strawberries, cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries), grapefruit, melons, apricots, plums, peaches, pears, cherries, apples. Depending on the diet you might be allowed to eat some fruits that have higher sugar levels such as grapes, oranges, tangerine, and pineapples. Fruits that are strictly forbidden are bananas and all kinds of dried fruits.

Meat: most of the low carb diets feature an extensive use of meats. This is due to the fact that meat contains a lot of proteins and some essential substances for your wellbeing. However you should be careful what meat you eat. Avoid breaded meats or heavy meat souses, check if the hams and luncheon meats you want to eat have added sugars.

Dairy: dairy foods such as milk, yogurt, and cream have a lot of carbohydrates so be very careful about their consumption. Make sure you know how to count the carbs in these products. An option is to find substitutes such as soy milk and cream.

Obviously it is impossible to list all of the foods you can or cannot eat during your diet. For that reason you can take a diet food list that will have all of the foods you can eat. What you should do is to check with this list if the food you want is allowed or not. After a while you will not need the list anymore. Another tip is to concentrate on the foods you can eat and stop thinking of the ones you are not allowed to have.

Keith Londrie II is the Webmaster of http://www.low-carb-hig-protein-recipe-atkins-diets.info/ A website that specializes in providing tips on Low carb diets that you can research on the internet. Wearing the most perfectly applied make-up will not cover up a poor skin.

Take the time to practice a regular cleansing routine. To clean facial skin use a gentle, fragrance free cleanser, preferably one that is pH balanced. Deodorant soaps shouldn't be used on your face. They may irritate your skin and eyes or clog your pores.

Dip into your fridge for facial cleansers when your regular cleanser runs out. Buttermilk or yogurt are gentle, natural skin cleansers.

While much time and attention is lavished on the face, the neck area needs as much care and consideration so always include the neck area in your skincare routine.

Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on your face and neck after cleansing.

Dry Skin - If you suffer from dry skin it's very likely you've tried numerous 'miracle cure' products only to discover they were not. You do not necessarily need to buy those expensive creams or lotions to treat the problem, you can often find good solutions by following a few useful tips.

Do not use tap water when cleansing dry skin. The deposits are too drying and never, ever use hot water.

Unless your skin is oily, avoid washing your face with soap as it removes the natural oils protecting the skin.

Nourish and hydrate with Chamomile, Evening Primrose or Aloe Vera.

Massage your face with a nourishing cream every night, paying particular attention to the area surrounding the eyes where tiny lines and crows feet develop.

Refrain from using toner as this can dry out the skin.

Oily Skin - One great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Cleanse with plenty of warm water and pure or lightly medicated soap to prevent the clogging of pores. (contrary to popular belief, hot water can deprive your skin of much needed moisture). Limit washing your face to two or three times daily as too much stimulation will produce more oil. Rinse your face thoroughly and apply a toner/astringent on the oily areas of your skin by massaging with your fingertips using upward and outward strokes.

Harsh products deprive your skin of natural oils and encourage flakiness. This in turn can lead to a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils. When skin becomes dehydrated it causes the outer layers to shrink and restricts oil flow through the pores leading to blockages and spots.

Use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid and avoid heavy creams.

The skin around your eyes and mouth and on your throat may benefit from a nightly moisturizing, plus a mere touch of moisturizer in the morning.

If your oily skin is scaly, you can often correct the problem by using a deep-cleaning exfoliant on alternate nights, and following the treatment with a light coating of moisturizer.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-coloured clays.

Exfoliate skin regularly with a natural exfoliant such as glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells, balance oil production and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

Before applying makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretions. Look for benzyl peroxide in the list of active ingredients.

Use a light antiseptic night cream from time to time if you wish, and apply a clarifying mask one or two times a week.

From Beauty Tips at http://www.jolo1.com

Perfect Makeup for Face, Lips and Eyes

Choosing and Applying Makeup.

Foundation: Foundation should match your skin tone. Test several different shades at the beauty counter by administering a small touch of foundation on to the back of the hand, smooth in gently and choose the foundation that blends in with your natural skin colour. You will usually find a few free testers on display.

When applying foundation to your face, dab it on your hands and pat it on to your forehead, cheekbones, the tip of your nose and your chin. Blend it in. For the fragile area around the eyes, tap and blend in a mere trace of foundation with your little finger using an inward motion under the eyes. Don't forget to extend the foundation over the jaw line and neck so that you don't leave a line. Finish off by patting gently with a damp sponge to give your skin a lovely natural look.

Concealer: With the many different tones and textures of concealer on the market, finding one that suits you can be a daunting task. As mentioned earlier, test some on the back of your hand by gently rubbing on to the skin. The correct concealer for you will blend in with your natural skin tone.

Concealers are used mainly for correcting poor skin tones, concealing dark circles under the eyes, improving and contouring facial features.

A mauve based concealer will brighten up a pale and dull skin tone. Use a green base to conceal red blotches and ruddiness. Always apply foundation before the concealer.

To reduce dark circles under the eyes use a yellow based concealer. Apply to the darkest areas with a small brush and blend in gently with your fingertips. Apply the concealer prior to putting on your foundation.

To improve facial features, use pale shades to lengthen and lighten and dark shades to reduce, deepen and conceal. Available as creams, liquids and pencils. Apply after basic foundation.

Contour your face using a foundation or concealer two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Create depth and shadow in areas such as the cheeks and jaw. Use highlighting cream on the top of your cheek-bones to emphasize their shape.

Powder: Keep your powder application light. Blot the face lightly with a tissue, especially over the forehead, nose and chin. Pick up the powder on the puff and press it firmly on the face, one area at a time. Don't try to smooth it on by massaging the puff over the face. Whisk away the access using a soft, thick powder brush. Brush downwards to avoid powder getting caught in the fine facial hair.

Blusher: Use a rose-toned blusher for fair skin, for olive skin use peach and for a dark complexion choose red or apricot.Put the blush on your brush, tapping off any excess. Look into the mirror and smile. This pin-points where the 'apple' of your cheek is. Gently brush the blusher upwards towards the temple, making a slight curve. Keep colour light and blend in well for a natural look. A touch of colour across the forehead and on the chin completes the look.

Lips: Check the lipstick colour is correct for your skin tone, hair and eye colouring. Keep to lighter and subtler shades during the day with maybe a tinted lip gloss and use darker, more vibrant shades and a shimmery lip gloss for night time. Keeping your mouth closed trace a fine line around the lips with a sharp pencil. Start at the v of the top lip and move outward to lip corners by using short strokes, pencil in the bottom lip starting from the middle outwards.

To make lips look fuller follow the outer edge of the natural lip line and inside the natural lip line to make them look thinner.Apply lipstick with a lip brush and blot lips with a tissue.

Eyes

Eyeliner: Unless you have dark skin do not wear black eyeliner. Black creates too great a contrast if you have paler skin. Experiment with a range of dark grey to light brown instead or try blending the eyeliner with a thin layer of eye shadow.

Eyeshadow: Use lighter shades of eye shadow during the day, and go darker at night. If the eyes need extra definition, blend a slightly deeper shade into the crease line. A white or shimmering eyeshadow applied just beneath the eyebrow will give your eyes a wide, open look.

Remember pale tones emphasize, while deep sooty shades define.

Mascara: Black mascara works for almost everyone but blondes should opt for brown by day and reserve black for night. If you have blue eyes try using blue mascara, this will highlight and brighten them while purple mascara makes brown eyes look absolutely stunning.

To avoid clumping, always apply your mascara in thin coats, building up the length and thickness gradually.

From Beauty Tips at Jolo's Ebooks.
